Quick answer
A telehealth psychiatry visit in California is one of three pricing experiences depending on how you pay. Here's what each one looks like at Seavaint Health.
With Medicare
Seavaint Health bills Medicare directly for psychiatric visits. Most adults with Medicare Part B will pay:
- Annual Part B deductible (once per year)
- 20% coinsurance on the Medicare-approved visit amount, unless a Medigap plan covers it
For Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans, costs depend on your plan. We verify your eligibility before your visit.
For deeper detail, see our Medicare psychiatry guide.
With commercial insurance
Commercial psychiatry visits are billed through Headway, our insurance partner. Headway:
- Verifies your eligibility before the appointment
- Tells you your exact copay before you book
- Handles the claim directly
Your out-of-pocket cost will be your plan's copay or coinsurance. Most patients pay between $0 and $50 per visit depending on their plan.
Cash pay
Cash pricing is flat and shown in the patient portal at booking. There are no surprise charges, no insurance back-and-forth, and no superbill processing through us. We can provide a superbill on request for possible out-of-network reimbursement from your insurance.
Current pricing is always shown in the portal, where it is up to date. Contact us if you want to confirm pricing before booking.
Comparison at a glance
Below is a side-by-side look at what to expect for a typical psychiatry visit:
- Medicare: Part B deductible plus 20% coinsurance. Medigap may cover the 20%.
- Commercial via Headway: Your plan's copay (often $0 to $50). Verified before booking.
- Cash pay: Flat fee shown in the portal. Superbill on request.
What else might affect your cost
Beyond the visit itself, a few items are usually separate:
- Prescriptions: Billed by your pharmacy, not by us. Your copay depends on your plan.
- Lab work, if ordered: Billed by the lab. May or may not be covered by your insurance.
- Follow-up visits: Usually shorter and lower-cost than initial evaluations.
FAQs
Why is your cash pay price not on the website?
Pricing changes occasionally, so we keep the most current price inside the patient portal where it's always up to date. You'll see it before booking.
How much will Medicare cover?
Medicare Part B typically covers the visit minus your deductible and 20% coinsurance. Medigap plans may cover the 20%.
Do you offer payment plans?
Please contact us to discuss options. Access and transparency matter to us.
Can I get a superbill for reimbursement?
Yes. We provide superbills on request for cash-pay services.
