Collaborative physician Practice support

Dr. Kenneth Van Williams, DO is the collaborative physician for Seavaint Health. He supports the practice in alignment with California scope-of-practice rules for nurse practitioners and helps ensure our clinical workflows are safe, current, and patient-centered.

Patient visits are conducted by Sophia Nairima, FNP-BC, PMHNP-C. Dr. Williams supports the practice behind the scenes and does not see patients directly.

About the collaborative physician role

In California, nurse practitioners may practice under a written collaborative agreement with a physician depending on their training, credentialing, and the setting in which they practice. The collaborative physician supports the practice through consultation, periodic review of clinical practices, and participation in quality and safety processes.

At Seavaint Health, Dr. Kenneth Van Williams supports founder and primary provider Sophia Nairima, FNP-BC, PMHNP-C in line with that collaborative model. Patients are seen by Sophia for all clinical visits. The collaborative relationship operates behind the scenes to support the quality and safety of the care we deliver.

How this affects your care

The collaborative model is a routine part of how many California nurse practitioner practices operate. For patients, your visit experience does not change. You will be seen by Sophia Nairima for evaluation, follow-up, and any prescribing decisions, with the collaborative physician available for consultation as appropriate.
