When telehealth may be appropriate

Telehealth is a practical option for starting, continuing, or adjusting hormonal birth control for many patients. Some methods (IUDs, implants) require in-person placement.

When to seek urgent or in-person care instead

Seek urgent or emergency care right away if you have:
  • Severe chest pain or shortness of breath
  • Severe leg swelling or pain
  • Severe headache or vision changes
  • Signs of stroke
  • Heavy or worsening abdominal pain

Telehealth is not a substitute for emergency care. Call 911, go to the nearest emergency room, or for mental health crises call or text 988.

What treatment may include

Care may include discussion of method options, evaluation of suitability, prescription of pills, patches, rings, or referral for procedure-based methods. Some methods may require in-person placement (such as IUDs or implants). Emergency contraception is also available through telehealth.

Pricing

This service is cash pay. Current pricing is shown in the patient portal at booking. We can provide a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement on request.
