When telehealth may be appropriate

Telehealth may help with initial conversations, symptom review, and coordination. It is not enough when there are signs of medical instability or active safety concerns.

When to seek urgent or in-person care instead

Seek urgent or emergency care right away if you have:
  • Fainting or near-fainting
  • Severe weakness
  • Suspected electrolyte problems
  • Significant dehydration
  • Chest symptoms
  • Rapid ongoing weight loss
  • Active self-harm risk

Telehealth is not a substitute for emergency care. Call 911, go to the nearest emergency room, or for mental health crises call or text 988.

What treatment may include

Care is often part of a larger plan that may include therapy, nutrition support, lab monitoring, and in-person medical assessment. Medication may have a limited role and depends on the clinical picture.

Pricing

This service is cash pay. Current pricing is shown in the patient portal at booking, where it is always up to date. We can provide a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement on request.

Frequently asked questions

Can eating disorders be treated through telehealth?

Telehealth can support parts of care for some California patients, but it is not appropriate for every case.

Is telehealth enough on its own?

Often no. Many patients also need therapy, nutrition support, lab monitoring, or in-person assessment.

What symptoms suggest I should not wait?

Fainting, severe weakness, dehydration, chest symptoms, rapid weight loss, or vomiting that does not stop.

Will I need labs?

Possibly. Labs are often important when there is restriction, purging, weight loss, or signs that the body is under strain.

Can telehealth prescribe medication?

Whether medication has a role depends on the clinical picture. Prescribing is not guaranteed.
